Winnings From an Oregon Powerball Drawing Worth $1.326 Billion
A single Oregonian Powerball ticket that matched all six numbers won the $1.326 billion jackpot after the drawing on Saturday night was postponed because of “pre-draw procedures,” according to Powerball.
White balls 22, 27, 44, 52, 69, and red Powerball 9 were the winning numbers. According to Powerball, the jackpot on Saturday is worth $621 million in cash.
The $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot drawing was supposed to take place at 10:59 p.m. ET on Saturday, but the Multi-State Lottery Association stated late Saturday that it had been postponed because one of the participating lotteries needed more time to finish pre-draw procedures. At 2:29 a.m. ET, a new drawing was conducted.
“Powerball game rules require that every single ticket sold nationwide be checked and verified against two different computer systems before the winning numbers are drawn,” the association said in a statement. “Tonight, we have one jurisdiction that needs extra time to complete that pre-draw process.”
More than 4.5 million winning tickets were drawn from the Saturday night drawing, according to Powerball. Seven of those tickets matched all five white balls to win prizes totaling $1 million.
The previous Powerball top prize winner occurred on New Year’s Day, when a single ticket in Michigan had the numbers for a top prize of $842.2 million. Since then, there have been 40 straight draws.
The 41st drawing night on Saturday night tied a record for drawings that had been set twice previously in 2022 and 2021. The prize on Saturday was the eighth largest in US lottery history and the fourth largest in Powerball history.
The prize has risen to be the eighth largest in U.S. lottery history because winning is so tough due to the enormous odds of 1 in 292.2 million. Because of this, the top prize has been awarded three times a week for several months.
The one and only winner of the $1.3 billion prize will receive payment in the form of an annuity, with 29 yearly installments after the initial payment. In addition, the $621 million cash prize is an option for winners.
If a player matches the red Powerball and all five white balls, they win the jackpot.
There are three weekly drawings for Powerball: on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Tickets cost $2 each. In addition to 45 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington, D.C., powerball is played.
